Sarah Chandley Dodd - 2018

Sarah Chandley Dodd is named for my Great, great, great, great Grandmother, who was born in Ireland in 1801, & died in Marcellus, NY, in 1888. I grew up in the house she & my Great, great, great, great Grandfather, Simon, built. This lovely flower fittingly bears her name, & bespeaks a timeless garden, where generations come & go. The 5 to 5 1/2” wide, blooms are an apricot hue, over a wide yellow throat, with a pink blush at the edges, that is more dominant on the sepals. The petals are lightly ruffled. The form is open spatulate. Though delicate in appearance, this is a very hearty plant, one that stands up to extreme heat & nasty winters. Scapes average 33 - 37”. Bud count averages 30, usually higher.
